Working with nature Thinking for the future
The countryside is rapidly evolving with ever increasing demands placed upon it, which in turn gives rise to new opportunities and income streams.
Verdant Rural Services was founded with the vision: to help restore, enhance and care for the countryside through insightful practical land management and environmental expertise.
Try asking yourself; will this land be better in the future, due to the actions and decisions im taking today?
We understand that every site is unique but that doesn't necessarily limit or determine opportunity. Whether managing food production, a woodland, improving biodiversity, creating new habitats or developing a long-term management strategy. Our focus is always on delivering solutions that are both environmentally beneficial and practical to implement.
Our work combines technical knowledge, in field experience and a genuine passion for the rural environment.
By working closely with landowners, businesses and governing agencies, we help create landscapes that are productive, financially resilient and rich in wildlife.
Our Services
We develop comprehensive land management frameworks that optimise productivity and sustainability for estates and agricultural holdings. Utilising the best mapping and data sets available, we can maximise land holding outcomes in collaboration with UK governing agencies.

About the Director
James Worthington BSc Agricultural Management FDSc Countryside Management
With over three decades working within successful rural businesses, including Estate Management, Agriculture, and Recreation/Sporting enterprises.
Verdant Rural Services Ltd, to me is about enabling landowners both in the public and private sectors, to find the right balance between food production, resources, recreation alongside species recovery for a viable future.
I view sustainable land management in a holistic way, in most cases good land management has a mutually beneficial synergy with other aspects of a land holding. I firmly believe that, what's good for people, nature and natural processes is also good for agriculture. Instead of a trade off between the two, they are intrinsically linked and the right balance needs to be found. Agriculture is part of the solution.
I have a unique combination of practical experience with formal qualifications, and insight to help landowners unlock the full potential of their properties. From emerging natural capital markets, woodland and habitat projects to sporting enterprises as well as day-to-day estate operations, we understand how to balance commercial aims with long-term stewardship.
I look forward to chatting soon. JW
